Thomas is a vision impaired artist who has been working with  a condition called  LHON, a hereditary neurological disease, since 2000. It changed his vision from 20/20 to legally blind. The change precipitated a shift from working a day job as an art director and designer while participating in select group shows to seeking an entirely new path. Following training and then working as a clinical massage therapist for a few years, THomas returned to graduate school to study design research, human-computer interaction, and inclusive design. Since then, he has worked as a user experience designer and researcher, recently transitioning to a full-tie art making practice. He has a BFA from Auburn University and a Master’s in Design from Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology.
